Movin’ On (For Jesse Owens)

The Story:      This Charles Ginnever sculptor is named Movin’ On (For Jesse Owens). Commissioned by the City of Dayton City Beautiful Council’s Alternative Spaces Residency Program in 1980, it was meant to represent the Olympic Rings in abstract quadrilateral form. It was named in honor of Jesse Owens who died the week the piece was installed near 5th and Main Streets in Dayton, Ohio. The sculpture was relocated to the Dayton Art Institute Grounds in 2017 to make room for the Levitt Pavilion.
