Hatch Memorial, Lake View Cemetery

The Story:     The Hatch Memorial at the historic Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. Henry Reynolds Hatch was a successful businessman and later a philanthropist. He was devoted to the establishment of the Lakeview Cemetery Association. When he passed away in 1915, his family placed him in the cemetery that he worked so hard to beautify. This sculpture carries the family name where on this fall day, the Japanese Maple was showing its bright red colors as the robed figure holds a book while looking skyward.
