Hamilton Ohio’s The American Cape No. 8

The Story:      Hamilton, Ohio derives its name from the 1791 Fort Hamilton named for Alexander Hamilton. In honoring its namesake, in 2003 Historic Hamilton Inc commissioned this bronze sculpture of Alexander Hamilton during one of his orations. At 4,000 pounds and 12 feet tall, this is the largest version created by sculptor, Kristen Visbal. The American Cape was unveiled 23 Oct 2004 and stands along High Street at Journal Square. The full-length cape which features the 13-star American Flag appears to blow in the wind.
