Dogwood Pavilion Surrounded by Autumn-colored Trees, Hills and Dales MetroPark No. 4

The Story:      This gorgeous day occurred over Hills and Dales MetroPark which lies between Kettering and Oakwood Ohio. The land was owned by John H. Patterson of the National Cash Register. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed riding horses and made the land available to his NCR employees. In 1918, he donated the land to the City of Dayton where the donation doubled the city’s park acreage. Today, the land is part of the Five Rivers MetroParks system. On this autumn day, the late day sun backlit the sugar maples that began their fall color transition as the pond perfectly reflected the distant Dogwood Pavilion.
