Cox Arboretum Sunset No. 3

The Story:      Today’s Cox Arboretum MetroPark owes its beginning to James M. Cox, Jr. who used the farm as a weekend retreat called Spring Running.  Later in his life and with no heirs, James M. Cox was approached with a plan to use the property as an arboretum.  In 1972, the arboretum became part of the Five Rivers MetroParks system.  The park now consists of a shrub garden, butterfly house, children’s maze, crab apple allée, and many gardens and trails which meander throughout the park.  In this evening image, the Monet Bridge straddles the Water Garden as the park’s trees filter the day’s last rays.
