Chain of Rocks Sunset No. 2

The Story:      The Chain of Rocks Bridge carried traffic U.S. Route 66 traffic from Choteau Island, Illinois, to St Louis, Missouri, and holds its place on the National Register of Historic Places. From this perch, two historic and architectural water intakes stand in the midst of the Mississippi River, which held crews controlling the flow of St Louis’ drinking water. The distant rapids arise from a dam that mitigates a series of hazardous rock ledges to river traffic. Colorful sunsets are often brief, but this evening the visual treat lasted 30 minutes.
