Butler County Courthouse No. 5
The Story: The Butler County Courthouse resides in downtown Hamilton Ohio. Construction started in 1885 using D. W, Gibbs’s designs which drew from the Second Empire style with some features employing Italianate style of architecture. The center tower was originally a clock tower that burned in 1912 and was replaced by a smaller tower with a dome that took a lightning strike in the 1920s, so only the 1912 smaller tower remains to this day. On this evening, as the sun reaches for the horizon, it illuminates the courthouse grounds in golden light.
