Aerial View of the Dayton Art Institute Facade No. 10

The Story:      The Dayton Art Institute’s current building was built in 1928 thanks to the donation of Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell. She hired architect Edward Brodhead who designed the façade after the Villa Farnese in Italy. Over the years, the museum’s Grand Staircase fell into disrepair and eventually had to close. In 2019, the DAI undertook the long-awaited repairs. On this sunny June Day, this aerial view captures the DAI as it basks in the warm light.
