Sugartree Mill Company, Wilmington Ohio

The Story:      For the last 150 years, the Sugartree Mill has been part of Wilmington Ohio’s past.  From its E Sugartree St perch, this three-story building has served many purposes.  From 1881 to 1912 it served as a grist mill.  Due to bankruptcy, the bank bought the building in 1912 and it even caught fire in 1947.  It has also served as a storage building and recycling center.  In 2019 it began another life as a series of  design-oriented, craftsmanship-oriented workshops specializing in floral design, gift items, and antiques.  On this early summer evening, it stands proudly along the rail lines as an isolated thunderstorm fills the southern sky.

Rest of the Story:  The scene caught my attention as I made my way through Wilmington on a quiet evening. The Sugartree Mill stood with quiet dignity, its brick walls rich with history and wear. I was drawn not just by the architecture but by the contrast—this historic structure holding its ground beneath a vast southern sky, where an isolated thunderstorm brewed on the horizon.  I didn’t plan to stop here, but like many of my favorite captures, it was the unexpected alignment of time, light, and story that made the image special.

Product Description

An old 3-story mill where railroad tracks leads the eye toward the horizon that is filled by an isolated thunderstorm

A wide mural occupies the side of building capturing people visiting fruit, veggies, meat and cheese stands between painted arches of a farmers market with one panel showing the launch of a hot air balloon.
Caption: One of many murals in Wilmington, Ohio, the Main Street Market Mural stands out for its scale and charm. Painted in 2009 by Yellow Springs artist Jason Morgan, the 25-by-90-foot mural transforms a stucco wall into a lively indoor farmers market scene, complete with colorful produce, vendors, and a whimsical hot air balloon overhead. It’s a vibrant tribute to local agriculture and community life.
The Rest of the Story: When I first rounded the corner and saw this mural, I was struck by its scale—nearly the size of a small billboard—and the energy it brought to this quiet stretch of town. Like many of Jason Morgan’s works, this one does more than just decorate a wall. It tells a story of community… of growers, neighbors, and shared harvests. Painted in 2009, it’s now weathered slightly, which to me only adds to its character—like a well-loved recipe passed down through generations.
What I appreciated most, standing there, was how the mural felt both rooted and imaginative. The hot air balloon floating above the market stalls gives it a whimsical lift, while the figures and baskets of produce ground it in the real work of local life. It’s a mural that invites you not only to look—but to linger.

Framed Giclee Canvas Prints

My canvas prints originate from the highest quality equipment and techniques which produce an impressively vibrant and sturdy print.  Features of My Framed Giclee Canvas Prints include:

  • Light Weight:  Lacking the need of glass and matting, these canvas prints are light weight
  • More Print for Your Money:  Avoiding expensive glass and matting lowers costs
  • Archival:  The pigment inks are archival rated at 95 years
  • No Gallery-wrapped Hazards:  My framed giclee canvas prints avoid the hazards of traditional gallery wrapped canvas prints (print edges easily mar and the canvas tends to relax and warp).  My canvas is mounted to a solid surface so it will never warp and the outer frame protects the print’s edges.
  • Ready to Hang.  Your canvas print comes ready to hang with single wire fastened to two sturdy D-ring hangers (quality D-rings resist wire tension vice eye hooks).  We employ a plastic-coated wire which mitigates corrosion, prevents stray strands from puncturing a finger, and permits easier leveling of frame.  In paying attention to details, we also properly wire frame with some tension which ensures canvas hangs close to wall.
  • Optional Z-bar:  For larger prints (if requested), we employ a two-piece mounting cleat in lieu of a hanging wire.  In this option, the cleat attached to the back of the print fits securely over the reverse cleat that you attached to the wall.
  • Watermark:  The final print you receive will not have a watermark.
  • Documentation:  I attached a certificate of authenticity to the back of each print.
  • Large Canvas Prints:  Though I can produce prints up to 40 x 60 inches, shipping in sizes 30 x 45 inches and above is expensive.  If you live in the Miami Valley, reach out to me about obtaining access to these larger print sizes.
  • Shipping Times:  Creating the print takes about 2 weeks and can be ready for immediate local pick up.  For those outside the Miami Valley, I have dedicated boxes and shipping takes an additional 3 to 5 days.

Metal Prints

People are amazed by these metal prints…from the reactions I witness at art shows and exhibitions, I call them “eye candy”.  Dye sublimation prints offer the following characteristics:

  • Incredibly vibrant:  My prints start with a white gloss substrate which produces vivid colors and enthusiastic comments
  • Extremely durable:  Our printer employs verified archival materials, so if handled properly the print will last over 100 years.
  • Cleans easily:  If cleaning is required, owners can employ soft cloth.
  • Saves money:  Unlike paper prints which require protective glass, there is no need to cover the metal surface.  With no glass, there’s no longer a need for the expensive framing, matting and labor which drives up the cost for traditional paper prints.
  • Ready to hang:  We attach mounts to the back of the metal prints which provide gallery-preferred hang points, and elevates the print off the wall producing a floating effect.
  • Large Metal Prints:  Though I can produce prints up to 30 x 45 inches shipping is expensive.  If you live in the Miami Valley, reach out to me about obtaining access to these larger print sizes.
